Tragic news: a top Iowa player was mistakenly left off of the USA team, with the reason given being that there may have been controversy over his limited playing time.

Despite not having played a complete season in the WNBA, Caitlin Clark’s exclusion from the Team USA women’s basketball roster infuriated a lot of supporters.

For the attention she would have brought to the sport on such a grand scale, many argued that Clark should have been included for the squad. Some contend that although though Clark hasn’t yet participated in a full WNBA season, she has already demonstrated sufficient skill to be considered for the squad.

Ezoic Rizzotti refuted a report from USA Today that quoted two seasoned USA Basketball players and claimed the committee’s “decision-making process was influenced by concerns about how Clark’s millions of fans would respond to what would likely be limited playing time on a stacked roster.”

“People need to keep in mind that playing time is not decided by the committee,” she stated. “Cheryl is not told by the committee who gets to start or who gets to play.

It is our responsibility to assemble the top team. Playing time is beyond of our jurisdiction, so it cannot be taken into account.
