Good news: A great announcement has been made by coach Matt LaFleur as he made a trade deal with the strongest NFL team ever…
During Sunday’s annual league meeting, Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur spoke with NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero on the team’s recent trade of superstar wide receiver Davante Adams.
Regarding the Packers trading Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders, LaFleur remarked, “Sometimes you got to make some tough decisions,” according to Michael Baca of NFL.com. “We are grateful for everything Davante has contributed to our team. He is the best wide receiver in the National Football League; therefore, for our organization and me individually, that was a difficult decision.”
For the remainder of his career, Adams finally decided to play for the Raiders rather than the Packers. LaFleur responded as follows when Pelissero questioned whether the Packers attempted to persuade Adams to change his mind:
“Well, there wasn’t really anything to discuss. You’re negotiating a contract, after all, and this was one of those agreements where, as I mentioned earlier, many difficult choices needed to be made.”
Adams inked a $141.25 million, five-year contract with the Raiders, who traded the Packers their first- and second-round picks in exchange.
Over the past two seasons, Adams, 29, has been nothing short of outstanding. In 2020, he hauled in 115 catches for 1,374 yards and eighteen touchdowns; the next year, he added 123 receptions for 1,553 yards and eleven scores.
Adams refused to play in Green Bay while wearing a tag after the Packers placed the franchise tag on him at the end of the season.
Adams ultimately had the option of playing in a different location or re-signing a long-term contract with the Packers, according to ESPN’s Rob Demovsky.
Regarding his decision to sign with the Raiders, Davante Adams said, “A lot of my family is in California, and they have never seen me play. For me, it’s just a question of pondering and thinking about the things in life and the things that truly count in this world.”
