The Boston Celtics have suspended head coach Ime Udoka for the 2022-23 season, citing “violations of team policies.”

Ime Udoka, the head coach of the Boston Celtics, reportedly had a consensual, intimate relationship with a female team employee. The NBA suspended him for the whole 2022–2023 season. Assistant coach Joe Mazzula is expected to take over as interim head coach during the ban.

The suspension is effective immediately and follows reports that Udoka was having a consensual romantic relationship with a franchise employee.
