HE IS back. The all-time player for the Boston Celtics has officially announced his return.

Blake Griffin formally announced his retirement on Tuesday, only months after fellow Celtics players pleaded with him to rejoin the team. The seasoned forward posted on Instagram to declare his retirement. Before concluding his professional career in Boston last year, the six-time All-Star was named to five NBA teams as an All-Star and was the 2011 Rookie of the Year.

Griffin wrote, “I’m grateful for every single moment.” “Not only the deserving ones: the triumphs, accolades, dunks, and treasured moments shared with loved ones, friends, supporters, teammates, and coaches. I could go on forever about the individuals in my life who have made such a significant contribution to my work, but in this brief non-letter, I must thank my brother Taylor and parents Tommy and Gail for their unwavering support and direction. Finally, I would like to thank my wartime confidante and unwavering voice of reason, my agent Sam Goldfeder.

“I am just as grateful for the bad times: the defeats, the wounds, the far too numerous surgeries, the lessons learned, the heartaches. It wouldn’t be a sports retirement letter if I didn’t acknowledge the ‘haters.'” My 14 years in the league were genuinely unforgettable because of all of these experiences, and Isimply can’t help but be grateful.

During an appearance on Pardon My Take last month, Celtics guards Derrick White and Payton Pritchard spoke warmly about the veteran big man and described the team’s efforts to keep him in the lineup for one more season.

“Actually, I sent him a playful text a week or two ago asking if he was coming back for one last ride. Pritchard stated, “He says he’s loving his life.
