Tragic news: Montreal Canadiens greatest-known player faces a six-month suspension after it has been demonstrated that he had an…

Hoffman linked the situation to a similar one he was involved in six years earlier.

It’s safe to conclude Mike Hoffman is dissatisfied with the new mark on his face or the lack of punishment for an opponent’s attempt to deface him. On Friday, the Montreal Canadiens winger posted to Instagram to show off the horrific cut he sustained after Boston Bruins forward A.J. Greer cross-checked him in the face during the first period of a heated game at TD Garden on Thursday.

On Friday, NHL player safety stated that Greer had been suspended for one game for his actions, in addition to the five-minute major and game misconduct he received following the play.

Hoffman, however, thinks Greer got off lightly, contrasting the incident to a similar one from 2016, in which he was the aggressor.

So I got a two-game suspension for cross-checking a player in the back of the helmet,” he told the camera, revealing a red scar behind his lower lip. “A full-fledged, deliberate cross-check to the face?” One game. Hmm.”
