CHICAGO (October 12,2023) — The Chicago Sky have hired Teresa Weatherspoon, a WNBA great and Hall of Famer, as their new head coach, the team announced today. “We are thrilled to welcome Teresa Weatherspoon as the new head coach of the Chicago Sky,” Sky Co-Owner and Operating Chairman Nadia Rawlinson stated. She was taken No. 10 overall by New York in the WNBA’s first draft in 1997. She guided the Liberty to the first WNBA Finals in 1997 and 1999. Weatherspoon ranks second on the Liberty’s all-time minutes played list (6,842), first in all-time assists (1,306), and first in all-time steals (453) for the franchise. I want to thank the entire Chicago group for going through this process and picking me. I can not wait to go to work!”
