Sad news: It has been officially revealed that the head coach of the Hamilton Tiger Cats will be terminating his contract.
Tommy Condell, the offensive coordinator and associate head coach for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, has left the team in what the team described as a mutual decision.
“This is a really challenging day. I’ve known Tommy since the year 2013. He is a remarkable man with unmatched imagination and work ethic. “His track record as a coordinator and quarterback development specialist with Hamilton is truly remarkable,” head coach and president of football operations Orlondo Steinauer stated in a release.
He has coached the Ticats for seven seasons and has been a member of four Eastern Division winning teams. Without a question, Tommy has contributed significantly to the organization’s pursuit of excellence. We appreciate all that he and his family have done and wish them continued success.
After taking on the position for three years as Hamilton’s offensive coordinator in 2013, Condell abruptly left the position in April 2016 and stated his family as the reason for his resignation. After taking a year off from football in 2017, he joined the Toronto Argonauts as the receivers coach. He played two seasons and won one Grey Cup with the team.
The Utica, New York native came back to the Ticats in 2019 to serve as their offensive coordinator. In 2022, he was promoted to associate head coach.
Due to major injuries to Matthew Shiltz and Bo Levi Mitchell, Hamilton has started three different quarterbacks this season. In terms of net yards per game, offensive points per game, completion %, passing yards per game, rushing yards per game, and turnovers, the offense is ranked seventh, eighth, ninth, and ninth, respectively.
The senior assistant for the team, Scott Milanovich, will assume play-calling responsibilities on offense. After serving as the Indianapolis Colts’ quarterbacks coach for the previous two seasons, the seasoned coach joined the team in the off-season. His final stint in the CFL came in Edmonton, when he was hired to take over as head coach prior to the 2020 campaign, but he never got to coach a game because the 2020 season was canceled.
