Don Deal: The New York Giants are delighted to have another player worth $390,000 join the team.

According to Ryan Dunleavy of the New York Post, the New York Giants’ greatest offer to running back Saquon Barkley contained $19.5 million in guaranteed cash.

Barkley would receive $22.2 million if running backs this year and next were to have the franchise tag. Dunleavy was informed by an unidentified representative, “No deal to be done that low.”

Barkley and the Giants have until Monday, July 17 to come to a long-term agreement. Barkley would be forced to play on the tag or sign a new one-year contract if they don’t.

According to a report on Tuesday, Barkley and the Giants were “at a stalemate,” and Barkley might miss the entirety of training camp or more if a deal couldn’t be reached.

Barkley stated he was looking last month.

“As I’ve said before, I don’t want to establish any contract records. I’m not asking to be paid more than any other player in my league. I am aware of the market. All I want is to be fairly compensated for the work I do for the team both on the field and in the locker room. The Giants and I have been in communication all offseason. I’ll be prepared to sign once a fair agreement is reached that includes both parties.

When asked if a deal might be struck in mid-June, Barkley had responded, “I don’t know.”
