Great news: every fan is happy to have him back, as the former head coach of Everton announced his return.
These days, Everton is in a difficult situation. For the second season in a row, they are attempting to avoid relegating. And even though Frank Lampard saved them from relegation the last time, the English manager was recently shown the door after the Toffees underperformed under his direction this season. Moreover, the Premier League team is currently being connected to a transfer for a coach from Real Madrid.
Even though Davide Ancelotti is only 33 years old, he has already played at some of the largest clubs in existence. His father managed Bayern Munich, Napoli, and Everton, among other teams he has coached.
Ancelotti therefore have a wealth of expertise from his time at elite teams and may be prepared to take the next step into management. And it seems like moving to Merseyside could be in the works.
Frontrunners for the Everton position are thought to be Sean Dyche and Marcelo Bielsa. Yet Davide Ancelotti has been mentioned as a substitute, according to the Daily Mail (via Liverpool Echo).
Amazing Everton comeback linked to Real Madrid coach
Obviously, many would be surprised that Everton would choose someone like Ancelotti, who has never run a club himself. Relegation is something the Toffees want to avoid, after all.
Stranger things have, nevertheless, happened in sports. Considering prospects, Ancelotti may find it advantageous because he has prior experience at Everton and is familiar with most of the team.
Real Madrid would suffer a great deal if Ancelotti left in the midst of the season, though, given he has been a member of his father’s coaching staff for a long time.
Future events will tell, but it appears far more likely that Everton would choose Dyche or Bielsa over Ancelotti.
