Sad news: we can not still believe that Molly Davis is dealling with a dengerous injury.

No. 3 Iowa’s Molly Davis was injured to her right knee during Sunday’s game against No. 4 Ohio State, keeping her out of action for the rest of the contest. Head coach Lisa Bluder did clarify on Monday, though, that the 5-foot-7 guard will need physical therapy to increase mobility for postseason play and that the injury would not be season-ending.

“While we are so thankful that Molly’s injury is not season-ending, we feel for her that she got injured during Senior Day,” Bluder said. “As we anticipate her return at some time during the postseason, our program has appreciated everyone’s support and prayers.”

Hopefully, Davis will be able to play when the NCAA women’s basketball tournament’s first round begins on March 22. The injury will probably keep the redshirt senior out of the Big Ten tournament this week.

Additional Information
In the second quarter of Iowa’s final 93-83 victory at Carver-Hawkeye Arena, Davis was injured while attempting to intercept an Ohio State inbound pass. She was wheeled back to courtside after being brought into the locker room.

After the game, she was rolled out for Senior Day festivities, where she gave a touching speech to which the crowd erupted in applause:

To play at this level, Davis remarked, “you don’t always have to be the biggest, the smartest, the tallest.” “And maybe I’ve shown little girls out there you can play at this level.”
