The owner of Ajax Amsterdam has recommended that the head coach’s salary this month not be paid due to misunderstandings with two players.
As anticipated, Eric ten Hag, who is leaving for Manchester United, will be replaced as head coach of Amsterdam football club Ajax by Alfred Schreuder, who has signed a two-year deal.
The agreement between Ajax and Schreuder’s present team, Brugge, includes a third-season option.
Former Eredivisie player Schreuder worked with Ten Hag as an assistant coach from January 2018 to 2019.
We all know Alfred to be a very tactically adept coach. Ajax director Edwin van de Sar remarked, “He has acquired experience as a head coach and as an assistant coach at top clubs in various countries and competitions these last years.”
“We have great confidence that he will carry on down the route we have taken at Ajax in recent years in the Champions League and the Eredivisie.”
AMSTERDAM: Alfred Schreuder was appointed as Ajax Amsterdam’s new coach on Thursday, taking Erik ten Hag’s place, who is leaving for Manchester United.
Ajax and 49-year-old Schreuder, who is about to win Club Brugge the Belgian championship, have agreed on a two-year contract.
For 18 months, Schreuder worked as Ten Hag’s assistant at Ajax, and the previous season, he assisted Ronald Koeman at Barcelona.
At Twente, Hoffenheim of the Bundesliga, and Brugge starting in January, he has served as head coach.

In the latter part of the season, they have recovered from behind to lead the Belgian league, and if they win on Sunday, they will clinch the championship.
“I am grabbing this opportunity and honour of being head coach at Ajax with both hands. I want my squad to win awards in Amsterdam while playing visually appealing football. We have a nice mix of numerous outstanding talents and seasoned elite players,” he noted in an Ajax website statement.
I want to wrap up the season with Club Brugge, though, first. I’ll put in all my effort to get that through.
