Good news:The all time Iowa women’s basketball player caitlin Clark, has just announced, celebration of her son…
It’s spring according to the calendar and the most recent storm surge.
The weather has been, to put it mildly, inconsistent, which tells us winter is holding on tight.
However, we have to go on. But first, let’s go back to the topic of GOAT discourse before moving on to baseball, tennis, soccer, and the Drake Relays.
There isn’t much more to say about Caitlin Clark of Iowa because so much has already been written about her.
However, Clark and the Iowa women’s basketball team had an incredible season. Put the records on hold for a bit and consider the accomplishments that Clark and Lisa Bluder’s team have made for women’s basketball in the last year.
People are concerned.
While some have always cared, their numbers have significantly increased. There are more in Iowa (so much so that sales of season tickets for 2023–24 have been put on hold) and more around the nation.
With an average of 9.9 million people on ABC Sunday afternoon, the NCAA championship was the most watched women’s basketball game ever.
That was “more than last season’s Cotton, Orange, and Sugar bowls,” as Mike Hlas of The Gazette noted in a post on Tuesday. It exceeded the Thursday night NFL telecasts on Prime last year’s season average.
Is there any doubt that Clark is the greatest Iowan of all time, given at least one more year to play? Perhaps the greatest basketball player the state has ever produced, male or female, is this West Des Moines native.
Who is superior?
Iowa Falls resident Nick Collison? In 2003, he and Kirk Hinrich of Sioux City guided Kansas to the NCAA championship game. Both at Kansas and the Oklahoma City Thunder, where he played for 14 years in the NBA, his jersey is retired.
The Hinrich mentioned earlier? In 2003, he was selected higher than Collison (seventh overall), and he too had a lengthy NBA career. At Kansas, his jersey has also been retired.
Murray Keegan? The Iowa star and native of Cedar Rapids Prairie was selected with the fourth overall choice in the previous NBA Draft. He is currently enjoying a fantastic rookie campaign with the Sacramento Kings.
LeFrentz Raef? Barnes Harrison? Doug McDermont, who attended Ames High School despite being born in Grand Forks, North Dakota?

If nothing else, Clark is at least on par with any male Iowan player, and she’s not done yet.
