According to a rumor, Willie Green’s contract extension with the New Orleans Pelicans from the previous season was not disclosed by the team.
Willie Green, the coach of the New Orleans Pelicans, will be around for some time. Sam Amick of The Athletic reports that Green “has multiple years remaining on a (contract) extension that had not been previously reported.” Green accepted the position in New Orleans during the 2021–2022 campaign.
Green has improved his team’s victory total over his first three seasons: 36 wins in his first season, 42 wins in his final campaign, and now 49 wins this one. The Pelicans have a shot because they’ve made the playoffs once.
Green previously served as the Golden State Warriors’ assistant coach under Steve Kerr, helping the team win two NBA titles in the 2016–17 and 2017–18 seasons.
Green has led the Pelicans to their second-best win total in franchise history (49 wins) and the most road victories (28 wins) in their history. Specifics of the agreement have not yet been made public. Green has been successful in New Orleans even though his star player, Zion Williamson, isn’t able to stay healthy.
