Breaking news: Green bay packers captain Aaron Rodgers, announced an emergecy resignation.
In the summer, the Green Bay Packers will probably part ways with a number of its unrestricted free agents.
Among the players who are already being phased out on offense are Josiah Deguara, Jon Runyan, and Yosh Nijman. When their contracts expire in March, these players might be replaced. To be eligible for a new contract, they will have to win the remaining six games.
That’s already what some guys are doing. A number of Packers pending free agents appeared certain to go during the offseason, but their current play may make the head management reconsider.
It’s astonishing to think that these three guys could sign new deals with Green Bay.
Owens, Jonathan
What a difference four days make. Against the Los Angeles Chargers, Jonathan Owens may have had his worst game of the year. In the second quarter, he made a terrible tackle that was missed, allowing a costly touchdown to go 51 yards.
But against the Detroit Lions last week, Owens was unstoppable. Owens appeared to be there to stop the play every time a Lions player had the ball. In addition to recording 12 tackles and one tackle for loss, he also deftly recovered from a Rashan Gary forced fumble to score his first defensive touchdown of the season.
Three Packers safety players have their contracts expiring, including Owens. Green Bay might bring Owens back in the summer if he can maintain the kind of play he showed at Thanksgiving.
