The name that was most frequently mentioned was former star center Marc Gasol, who was given a lengthy defense by a specific fan as to why he should be the one to wear the acronym.

Grizzlies fans and the organization as a whole recognized how important he was during his tenure, despite his lack of season-based credentials (one All-Defensive nod in 2012–13 and zero All-Star or All-NBA selections during his Memphis career). As a result, he was rewarded with a five-year, $153 million deal during the 2016 offseason.
Many of those who left comments would likewise have to decide between Gasol and Conely, but would maintain their position on the subject by pointing out that, should he stay with the team for the long run and, assuming no major injuries or ongoing off-court problems occur, Morant will probably end up being awarded the coveted title.
The point guard has become one of the best individual players in the game in just four seasons with the team, and he has virtually single-handedly made Memphis an exciting team to watch.
