According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network Insider, the Cardinals fired Kingsbury on Monday after four seasons. Subsequently, the group verified the action.

According to the club, Keim, who took a lengthy medical leave of absence last month, has decided to resign from his position in order to prioritize his health.

The team released a statement saying, “We have announced that head coach Kliff Kingsbury has been relieved of his duties.” Furthermore, general manager Steve Keim has made the decision to resign from his role in order to prioritize his health. The group wishes them well and appreciates their contributions, both of them.”

Kingsbury had a horrifying 4-13 record in four seasons in the desert. Even though Kingsbury signed a contract extension in March that was good until 2027, Michael Bidwill, the owner, took action.

Arizona jumped out to a 7-0 lead, and Kyler Murray’s brilliant play helped the Cardinals’ 2021 campaign get off to a great start. But since then, things have gotten worse. The Cardinals battled their way into the postseason in Kingsbury’s third season, only to fall short against the eventual Super Bowl champion Rams.

Arizona improved their record each season under Kingsbury, going from 5-10-1 in 2019 to 8-8 in 2020 to 11-6 in 2021. However, everything went wrong this season.

During a wild season that started with DeAndre Hopkins’ suspension and was characterized by several ailments, including losing Murray to an ACL tear, the offense suffered mightily. Arizona’s averages for points and yards per game dropped to 20.0 and 323.5, respectively, under Kingsbury.

The Cardinals’ roster lacked depth and cohesiveness despite being a motley crew of well-known players. Since most of Keim’s early draft choices didn’t pan out, the coaching staff struggled to get players to perform consistently on the field.

The Cardinals will now attempt to find some new life under the direction of a new general manager and head coach.

The Cardinals’ defensive coordinator, Vance Joseph, will be given serious consideration for the vacant head coach post, according to a source who spoke with Rapoport.

There might be more adjustments coming for the Arizona team. Murray’s injury makes it uncertain if he will be ready for the season to begin. Defensive end J.J. Watt announced his retirement. It is anticipated that edge rusher Zach Allen will join the market. The offensive line starters Rodney Hudson, Justin Pugh, and Kelvin Beachum are all unrestricted free agents.
