Oliver Marmol, the manager of the St. Louis Cardinals, and his contract were extended for two more years, ending in 2026, on Friday.

After winning 93 games in 2022, the 37-year-old former minor league player for the Cardinals led the team to an NL Central title. He also became the youngest manager to make it to the playoffs since Lou Boudreau, then 31 years old, guided Cleveland to the World Series in 1946. Last year, St. Louis finished last in the division with a 71-91 record.

Cardinals President of Baseball Operations John Mozeliak stated, “We have experienced a lot of different emotions, both up and down, over the past two seasons.” “And Oli has guided us through these trying times throughout it all.”

After spending five seasons coaching in the minor leagues after joining the Cardinals organization in 2007 as a utilityman, Marmol joined the main league coaching staff in 2017.
