Due to his wife, A very loyal player of New York Mets has announced his sudden retirement, sending a powerful statement and bidding the team and supporters

The New York Mets will retire Dwight Gooden’s No. 16 and Darryl Strawberry’s No. 18 in different pregame ceremonies the following season to recognize players who were crucial to the team’s 1986 World Series victory.

Following the announcement on Friday, New York will have retired nine players and managers, up from four prior to Steve Cohen’s purchase of the organization in November 2020.

Cohen expressed his excitement in a news statement, “I’m happy that two famous members of the 1986 championship club will have their numbers retired in 2024. “Dwight Gooden and Darryl Strawberry both had a significant influence on our franchise, and it is an honor to uphold our dedication to honoring our amazing past.”

Strawberry made an instant impression with the Amazins after being chosen with the first overall pick in the 1980 MLB Draft. He went on to win National League Rookie of the Year after smashing a then-team rookie record 26 home runs. He was the NL leader in home runs in 1988 with 39, and he earned a silver slugger twice.

According to Cohen, “Darryl Strawberry’s monster moon shots bounced off Shea’s scoreboard, making him one of the most feared hitters in the National League with his sweet left-handed swing.” “Strawberry’s 1983 move to the Big Apple revitalized the team, so it’s fitting that the club’s all-time home run leader will retire his No. 18.”
