Breaking news: Two players and the head coach of the Kansas City Chiefs have announced their departures due to the comeback of…
Although Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid, 65, has stated he is not considering retiring, the team fears he may do so after the season.
During a Chiefs press conference last week, Reid was asked about his long-term future and ruled out any notion that he may leave the team soon.
However, NBC’s Mike Florio stated on the Zach Gelby show on Thursday night that the Chiefs are “aware” of Reid’s possible departure.
He continued by saying that the lack of clarity surrounding Reid’s future might lead to a deadlock in the NFL coaching market because, should the Chiefs position open up, every applicant connected to a current opening would want it.
“The one I’m watching is, is Andy Reid going to retire when the Chiefs season ends?” Florio stated. He has stated that he is not thinking about it, and the shrewd person would argue that since he has declared he will not be doing it, there is nothing to consider.

According to Mike Florio, the Chiefs are considering the prospect of Andy Reid retiring.
However, I think there’s a good chance the Chiefs are considering the notion. At the end of the season, we shall find out.
Frequently, a man remains silent until everything is said and done because he doesn’t want to be the main character, the focus, or the source of contention.
Though, in a way, as the Super Bowl approaches, if guys begin to believe that Andy Reid might win the game without winning, it gives them the extra push to let him do so. However, we’ll see.
There is only one quarterback, and the Chiefs have Patrick Mahomes, so ever since I learned that the team is preparing for the potential that Reid may go (I’m not saying he will, but I think there is cause to believe the Chiefs have it on the radar screen).
Therefore, you kind of want to play it out if you’re a great coach with choices, like Jim Harbaugh, Bill Belichick, or Mike Vrabel, who played for the Chiefs in the last two years of his career.
If the Chiefs advance to the Super Bowl, “perhaps on some level you are hoping they lose sooner rather than later because you don’t want to ride this out until February 11.”
In Kansas City, Reid—who turns 66 in March—is incredibly well-liked by both his players and supporters. The Chiefs are predicted by many to be strong candidates this season despite having a less impressive campaign despite his Super Bowl victory from the previous season.
When asked last week if he would retire, Reid—fondly known as “Big Red” in the NFL—replied, “I haven’t even thought about that.” I have only one thing on my mind: the upcoming game.
