Unbelievably,THE NEW JERSEY HEAD COACH, LINDY RUFF, HAS OFFICIALLY ANNOUNCED HIS LEAVING DUE TO COMEBACK.
Head coach Lindy Ruff of the New Jersey Devils has been sacked, the team has confirmed.
The decision was one that the organization wished to avoid making. Ruff, though, will not be able to lead the Devils against the Florida Panthers on Tuesday night at Prudential Center in front of an irate fan base following their trip to California.
In a statement, Tom Fitzgerald said, “I hold our entire organization to the highest levels of accountability to focus on being a competitive team that expects to be a perennial playoff contender.” We aren’t there yet, which is unfortunate, so I had to make this choice.
Given our relationship, this was a really challenging subject for me to have with Lindy. Above all, he is a wonderful person and the ideal coach for our young players to grow under on the ice.
It was time for a change, even though Lindy Ruff had signed an extension with the Devils at the start of the campaign. The devils appeared flat and unmotivated. Following their victory against the Philadelphia Flyers in the Stadium Series on February 17, the Devils have now dropped five of their past seven games. The Devils are getting farther and farther away from both the Wild Card slot and the third seed in the Metro Division.
General manager and president of hockey operations Tom Fitzgerald wanted to give his club time to get things right, but four points is not good enough. The club is no longer listening to its head coach, even if Ruff’s general manager hasn’t provided him with the resources he needs. It’s evident in their play.
They don’t have the necessary grit to prevail in hockey games. This was a major step forward for the Devils. There was plenty of opportunity for New Jersey to catch up in the standings. But this team took a step back, as was already indicated. Lindy Ruff accepted accountability for the decline.
In their first game back after losing to Philadelphia, the Devils fell short against Washington. That resulted in a subpar effort in the Rangers game. After their victory over Montreal, the Devils were trailing the Lightning in the standings and were unable to defeat them. After a poor start against San Jose, New Jersey managed to turn things around, but their performance in another loss against Anaheim and Los Angeles was depressing.
Ruff did not alter his methods of coaching the Devils, even if the club is different from the one from the previous season due to the absence of a seasoned defenseman and the presence of a top goalie on the general manager’s team. Every night, it seemed like he would say the same things. didn’t alter anything. It was the epitome of madness. Only some players received consequences. The players they had on the roster were not appropriate for the system being used.
This club is better than this, even though he does have some disadvantages this season due to the youthful roster, injuries, and goaltending. Although Lindy Ruff has talent on the team, he is not making the most of it. Once more, you can only fire the head coach—not the players. Lindy Ruff was aware of this. But this season, the players haven’t done him any favors.
