The Carolina Hurricanes have just announced another unexpected great signing, more than the other signings.

More than the previous signings, the Carolina Hurricanes have just revealed the addition of another fantastic surprise signing.

Juha Jääskä, a free agent from Europe, has agreed to a one-year entry-level contract with the Carolina Hurricanes for 2024–2025.

Jääskä spent his whole junior and professional career with HIFK rather than being drafted by the NHL. The 26-year-old, an alternate captain for HIFK, just finished a season with 30 points and 10 goals. With five goals and seven points in seven games, he also enjoyed his greatest postseason run to date as the Pelicans defeated HIFK on April 2.

Jääskä, a 6-foot, 196-pound winger with expertise on both sides, joined HIFK’s U-16 program in 2012–13 to make his junior hockey debut. After remaining there for two years, he graduated in 2014–15, at the age of 16, from the U–18 program.

The native of Helisnki, Finland, debuted in the pro league with HIFK in the 2015–16 campaign, eventually turning pro in the 2018–19 season. In 2022-2023, Jääskä enjoyed his finest season to date, tallying 37 points from 56 games with 12 goals and 25 assists.

Later on, he will compete internationally for Finland at a number of levels, representing the country in the 2016 U-18 World Championship and the 2018 World Junior Championship in Buffalo. One of Finland’s stronger players on the Euro Hockey Tour, which serves as a warm-up for World Championship competitions, this season was Jääskä.

Jääskä is a dynamic forward who might make the team in a reserve capacity the following season. Although he probably won’t make a significant contribution offensively, he plays a strong defensive game, is adept at pursuing down opponents, and provides the squad with some useful speed.
