Sad news: A legendary player for the Gold Coast Titans has announced his resignation due to a potentially fatal injury.

In 2022, Booth made his Titans debut; however, a catastrophic knee injury ended his season.

Booth has decided to hang up his boots following discussions with medical doctors and their counsel.

He will stay with the Titans, where he will continue to serve as an assistant coach for the club’s NRLW squad in addition to assuming an administrative job within the organization.

According to Gold Coast CEO Steve Mitchell, the team was committed to having Aaron remain a Titan until he retired.

“I’m thrilled that Aaron will stay involved with our club; he’s a fantastic individual,” Mitchell added.

“I’m glad Aaron Booth is moving on to the next stage of his career, but I’m sad that injuries prevented us from witnessing his best performance on the field.

“Aaron possesses a strong football intellect and is demonstrating his abilities as a coach in our NRLW program, working with Karyn Murphy.”

“In addition to his coaching responsibilities, he will assume an administrative role that will enable him to be involved in the club’s business affairs.”

After working in South Sydney, Melbourne, and the Gold Coast, Booth claims he decided to retire after a protracted rehabilitation process for a knee injury.

“Obviously I wanted to keep playing as I’m only 27, so it was a hard call to make,” stated the player.

“After talking to a number of reliable medical professionals, I’ve decided that retiring will be best for my long-term health.

“I think I’ve been sensing for a while now that my knee isn’t returning to where I would like it to be.

“It was a horrific injury that required a protracted recuperation period; regrettably, it won’t heal to the point where it can manage the NRL schedule.

It is difficult to select out one person because I have encountered so many clubs, individuals, coaches, communities, and supporters on my travels.

“I just wanted to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who has contributed; I truly appreciate it all.

“I would especially like to thank my parents, partner, siblings, and friends who have shared this journey with me.

“I am so excited for this next chapter of my life and look forward to my new roles at the club.”
