When a new head coach is presented at his new program’s basketball game, the great majority of the time, everyone applauds while he says a few generic things about how happy he is and how bright the program’s future is.
That was not, however, the format of Curt Cignetti’s speech at Indiana tonight.
You could argue that Cignetti, who won the moment and was hired away by the Hoosiers following an 11-1 season at James Madison, took the bull by the horns.
Look, here we go. I’m quite excited about this chance.”
