DUE TO SETBACK OF TEAM,BECAUSE OF UNFINISHED INJURY CHICAGO SKY HEAD COACH DECIDED TO FIRE HER.
Last weekend, Michael Jordan did not make his much-anticipated comeback to the United Center.
As he dominates the Chicago Bulls with steals, Alex Caruso is putting himself forward for another nomination to the All-NBA defensive team.
Rebekah Gardner and the Chicago Sky face uncertainty in the wake of a potentially season-ending Achilles injury.
Additionally, during a hectic period for Chicago college basketball, a new lifetime scoring record was set at Northwestern, a jersey number was retired at DePaul, and Loyola faced a significant test.
James Wade, the general manager and head coach of the Chicago Sky, revealed on Saturday that he has left both positions to accept a position as an assistant coach with the Toronto Raptors. With immediate effect, Wade will be replaced as temporary general manager and head coach by Emre Vatansever.
In a news release, Sky Principal Owner Michael Alter remarked, “We are thrilled that James can fulfill a lifelong dream to join the NBA, and we send him our warmest congratulations and best wishes.” “We thank James for establishing a winning, team-oriented culture in Chicago and leading the Sky to our first ever WNBA Championship in 2021.”
After joining the Sky in 2019, Wade managed the team during its most prosperous period. During his debut campaign, the group triumphed in 20 games, ended a two-year postseason drought, and received Coach of the Year recognition. A few years later, he signed free agent Candace Parker, and in 2021 he led the squad to its inaugural championship. The Sky finished in a tie for the best record in the league after winning a franchise-high 26 games in the previous campaign. In all, the Sky finished 81-59, qualified for the playoffs four times in a row, and won a championship in more than four seasons with Wade.
But Wade had no interest in going down that road. He made a lot of rash decisions in the offseason because he wanted to contend for a postseason berth. Most notably, he sent the rights to Leonie Fiebich and a 2024 second-round pick to New York, two first-round picks (2023 and 2024) and a first-round pick swap (2025) to Dallas, and a massive four-team deal that included the return of Marina Mabrey and a 2024 second-round pick from Phoenix to New York, New York, and Phoenix.
