A vital member of the Carlton team want to step down after sustaining such a horrific injury.

As the Opening Round approaches, Carlton head of football Brad Lloyd has provided an injury update on three important Blues players.

The Blues were missing a few important players due to injuries when they hosted Melbourne in a Community Series practice match on Wednesday at Ikon Park.

Jack Martin, Sam Walsh, and Zac Williams were three of the people who missed.

Walsh and Martin did not play at all since their bodies prevented them from playing, while Williams dressed for the VFL game earlier in the day while he recovers from an ACL injury.

Lloyd went into detail about the issues that each of those three players is facing and whether or not there is a timetable in place for their comeback to the field.

Zac Williams’s knee

Lloyd stated on SEN Sportsday, “He played today (Tuesday) in the VFL game and got through pretty well.”

“I spoke with our medical staff just now, and they said he looked great and was really excited.

He appears to be in excellent shape, so I believe the addition will be well received.

Next week, the match committee and I will discuss how to proceed regarding his availability.

“He completed the task of surviving today. Whether he becomes available for the Opening Round would be the next stage.

Next week, we’ll address that. He will most likely be seen blasting off half-back and into the middle. and I don’t mind if he occasionally pinch hits forward as well.

Sam Walsh’s back

“Well, it’s evident that he had the injury that we needed to monitor,” Lloyd remarked.

He has recently had severe stiffness and discomfort. Sometimes, with his preparation and the intense preseason schedule, he was pretty good in the practice match the previous week, but I believe his load was somewhat too much for him.

We had to adjust his program and take a step back after listening to his stiffness and pain issues.

“He has started running, but we’ll see how he does the next week as he needs to complete a few requirements before he can return to the field.

As we get closer, they (the boxes) are kicking, running, and doing other similar things.

“Next week, when he starts, we’ll provide an update on him, including what he needs to do and whether we can declare him available.”
