The San Francisco Giants have informed DailyMail.com that manager Gabe Kapler is no longer with the team. This relocation is made in advance of the team’s 2023 final series.

In his four seasons as manager, the Giants, who finished 78-81, missed the postseason for the third time. After winning the National League West in 2021, Kapler’s Giants lost the divisional series 3-2 to the rival Los Angeles Dodgers. Even so, despite going 107-55, Kapler was still chosen NL Manager of the Year.

An 8–16 September that eliminated the 2023 Giants from playoff contention did them in. But the team’s real problems started in the offseason, when Yankees slugger Aaron Judge decided against signing with San Francisco and instead signed a $360 million, nine-year contract to return to New York.

Issues in the Giants’ clubhouse had surfaced in the last few weeks, especially after pitcher Logan Webb demanded “significant adjustments” in the dugout.

Earlier this week, Kapler stated, “We haven’t met that standard. We all have responsibility to raise the bar to the highest possible expectations, to not accept losing and expect to win every night and to go quickly back to make adjustments.”

The Philadelphia Phillies were managed by journeyman outfielder Kapler in 2018 and 2019. He is still one of the few Jewish men, along with Brad Ausmus, Al Rosen, and Bob Melvin, to have managed in the major leagues.

The Hollywood, California native had a Major League career that spanned from 1998 to 2010 and included stops at Detroit, Texas, Colorado, Boston, Milwaukee, and Tampa Bay.

As a backup outfielder, Kapler helped the 2004 Red Sox win their first World Series since 1918.
