Good news! All-time San Diego State Lamont Butler has officially announced her marriage to the all-time player in Iowa women’s basketball.
Thanks in large part to Lamont Butler, the Final Four has so far proven to be a fitting conclusion to March Madness.
This year’s 2023 NCAA Tournament has produced amazing superlatives, such as the first-ever Elite Eight without a #1 seed and the second-ever upset between a 16 and a 1. However, it lacked a genuine buzzer-beater, a mainstay of March Madness for many years.
That is, until Butler, of course, used his dagger against Florida Atlantic with seconds remaining to salvage the Aztecs’ season. The 6-1 junior from Moreno Valley, California, put SDSU in the national championship game after leading the team past the Owls 72-71.
“They briefly interrupted me. When I looked up and saw that there were two seconds remaining, I took a shot that seemed comfortable to me and made it,” Butler remarked of the play. “I’m content.

It’s astounding. That’s my purpose for being here,” Butler continued. It’s good that the shot was made. Right now, I’m really pleased for my squad.”
After that, the Aztecs will compete against the victor of the other national semifinal on Saturday, which is between Miami and UConn, for their first-ever national championship. Butler, who finished with nine points, two rebounds, three assists, and that amazing game-winning jumper, was the reason for it all.
