Another terrible news hit the Michigan State as they’ve sorrowfully announced…

(AP) — EAST LANSING, MI A gunman opened fire at Michigan State University on Monday night, leaving three people dead and five injured. Following an hours-long manhunt that sent terrified students running for cover in the dark, the attacker shot and killed himself miles away.

Four hours after gunfire broke out at Berkey Hall, an academic structure, and later nearby at the MSU Union, a well-liked gathering place for study and dining, police reported the man’s death early on Tuesday.

“We’re living a nightmare right now,” stated Chris Rozman, the campus police department’s acting deputy chief.

The East Lansing campus, located roughly 90 miles (145 kilometers) northwest of Detroit, was searched by hundreds of policemen in search of the culprit, who they described as a short Black male wearing red sneakers, a jean jacket, and a ball cap.

The 43-year-old guy killed himself with a “self-inflicted gunshot wound” after being confronted by authorities off campus, according to Rozman.

His identity was withheld for a while, as were specifics on the firearm and the items discovered by the authorities. According to Rozman, the man had no connection to Michigan State and was neither a staff member nor a student.
“Why he came to campus tonight to do this is unknown to us. We are still looking into that, the deputy chief stated.

In what has turned into a terrible new year in the United States, the shooting at Michigan State is the most recent. As of now in 2023, a number of mass shootings have claimed the lives of numerous individuals. Notably, in California, a dance hall frequented by senior Asian Americans saw 11 people killed while celebrating the Lunar New Year.

According to the Gun Violence Archive, there were around 600 mass shootings in the United States in 2022 that resulted in at least four fatalities or injuries.

Governor of Michigan Gretchen Whitmer bemoaned that “this is a uniquely American problem.”

According to Rozman, five patients were in serious condition at Sparrow Hospital, while two fatalities occurred at Berkey and one at the MSU Union.
