SAD REPORT, The all time players for Nebraska Cornhuskers has officially announced their leaving due to his marriage
Casey Thompson, the quarterback for Nebraska, is logging into the transfer site.
Numerous rumors state that the former Texas quarterback is to search for a third institution prior to the 2023 campaign. In the previous offseason, Thompson moved to Nebraska and emerged victorious as the starting quarterback.
However, Thompson’s exit coincides with Nebraska’s financial difficulties and the addition of a new transfer quarterback to the squad this offseason. After the 2022 season, former Georgia Tech quarterback Jeff Sims transferred to Lincoln, and he currently appears to be the front-runner to start for Nebraska in 2023. In 25 games with the Yellow Jackets, Sims has passed for 4,464 yards and 30 touchdowns, and he has also ran for 1,152 yards and 11 more points.

However, Thompson’s exit occurs while Nebraska is dealing with
Following an offseason shoulder surgery that hindered him throughout the spring, Thompson participated in 10 games in 2022 and finished the turbulent season 173 of 274 throwing for 2,407 yards and 17 touchdowns. After Nebraska’s early-season loss against Georgia Southern, Scott Frost was fired, and Matt Rhule, a former coach of the Baylor Bears and Carolina Panthers, was brought in to take over.
Prior to attending Nebraska, Thompson was Texas’ starting quarterback in 2021. He passed for 24 touchdowns against just nine interceptions while completing 63.2% of his passes. However, he left the team after 2022 when Quinn Ewers assumed the starting position.
Thompson, a graduate transfer who was a part of the 2018 recruiting class, is eligible for one more season. After Richard Torres and Logan Smothers announced they will look into transfers, he is the third quarterback from Nebraska to access the transfer portal this week.
Meanwhile, Nebraska is getting closer to the maximum of 85 players that can be scholarships offered by FBS schools. Thanks to transfers and freshmen signees, the Huskers had over 90 scholarship players for spring practice. By the time fall practice begins, Nebraska needs to be down to the scholarship cap, and it’s quite likely that more players will transfer.
