SAD REPORT, The all time players for Calgary Stampeders officially announced their leaving due to his marriage.
Tommylee Lewis has been suspended by the Calgary Stampeders for not reporting back to the team after a recent bye week. Lewis is reportedly expecting a child, according to TSN.
The 30-year-old made five starts at field-side wide receiver while suiting up for ten games with the team. After almost seven years on the team’s negotiation list—a very long time for a non-quarterback—he signed with the team in January. Due to a hamstring injury, he missed the preseason and began the season on the practice squad.
Lewis returned 49 punts for 645 yards at an average of 13.2 yards, ranking second in the league behind Toronto Argonauts’ return specialist Javon Leake. He also made 18 receptions for 139 yards and one touchdown. He returned with 15 kickoffs for 348 yards
The five-foot-seven, 168-pound target was not chosen in the 2016 NFL Draft and initially signed with the New Orleans Saints. Over the course of four seasons, he played in 39 games for the team, hauling in 21 receptions for 257 yards and two touchdowns, 49 yards on nine carries, 404 yards on 45 punt returns, and 617 yards on 27 kickoff returns.
In his two games with the Miami Dolphins, the 30-year-old made three punt returns for four yards, one kickoff return for 23 yards, and one reception for seven yards. He signed with the team in 2021 as a free agency. Although he never played for each team in a regular season game, he was also a member of the Detroit Lions and Carolina Panthers.
On Friday, October 20, the Stampeders (5-11) will play the B.C. Lions (12-5) with kickoff set for 10:00 p.m. EDT. If Calgary wins and the Saskatchewan Roughriders lose to Toronto on Saturday, they will guarantee a spot in the playoffs. Saskatchewan will secure the final postseason slot if the Riders defeat the Argonauts and Calgary loses to British Columbia.
