Zary didn’t play in the first period of the game against the Penguins on March 2.

SAN JOSE—According to the narrative, Dustin Wolf’s mother would make a lot of noise when she went to San Jose Sharks games when she was pregnant.

It seemed as though he was eager to make his NHL debut at the historic Shark Tank.

He finally got his chance on Tuesday, 22 years after the child from nearby Gilroy was born.

Although Wolf’s parents weren’t present, a sizable portion of his family—including his grandmother—were.

“I’ve seen a couple American League games in this building, and it’s great to have my grandparents, aunt, uncle, and, of course, my grandfather watching over us today.Being able to play a game here is a dream come true.

“And hopefully a lot more.”

Yes, you can bet that there will be supporters for the Flames’ future goalie, who will have supporters from his adopted hometown in southern Alberta.

“It’s obviously a dream to come from a small town and play against your hometown team,” stated Wolf, an undersized seventh-round selection who has spent his three years as a professional doing nothing but proving his naysayers wrong.

“Getting wins is the trip’s main objective, and winning in front of my family is particularly meaningful.”

“They have supported me from the beginning.”

Wolf made twenty stops, including a spectacular glove snare in the final seconds of the second period in a 2-2 match. In overtime, Wolf also had to stop Mikael Granlund, as the Flames were killing off a penalty.

All of that prepared the way for Andrei Kuzmenko’s powerful comeback, which saw Wolf dash across the ice to join his exuberant family in a group hug that resembled theirs in the spectators.
