SAD NEWS: After bashing their team announcer to death for just two reasons, two Alabama players were suspended and arrested.

Officials announced on Tuesday that three University of Alabama football players had been accused of striking students unconscious and taking their wallets, and one player had also been charged with using a stolen debit card.

According to court filings, linebacker Tyler Hayes, 18, and safety Eddie Williams, 20, admitted to robbing a student who had been kicked in the ribs and back and punched in the head and face early on Monday morning. According to Williams, an hour or so later, Hayes and defensive lineman D.J. Pettway, 20, waited in a nearby car as he knocked out and robbed another student. The records said that Williams and Hayes both acknowledged their involvement.

According to the affidavits, Williams and running-back Brent Calloway, 20, both acknowledged using a credit card that had been stolen to purchase snacks from vending machines inside a dorm.

Coach Nick Saban suspended all four pupils for an undetermined period of time.

Second-degree robbery was the offense brought against Pettway and Hayes. Williams was accused of second-degree robbery and credit card fraud. Calloway was accused of using a credit card fraudulently. Hayes and Pettway were each released on a $60,000 bond, while Williams was freed on a $65,000 bond. Following his $5,000 bond, Calloway was freed.

“This behavior is unacceptable for any student-athlete at the University of Alabama and not representative of our football program,” Saban stated in a press release.

For Alabama, which has won two consecutive national titles and three of the previous four, all four players were backups the previous season. 2012 saw Williams not play. However, he switched from receiver to safety the previous season and was one of the top prospects in the country.

The first pupil claimed that someone had stolen his Apple MacBook Pro from his rucksack. According to records, both suffered from moderate concussions, slashes on their faces, and significant swelling, and their wallets were stolen.

In a warning released on Monday, university police stated that two students had reported being approached by two individuals who requested a light for their cigarettes.

Williams was also reportedly arrested by police one day prior to his apprehension on robbery charges for allegedly carrying a handgun without a permit. According to a news release from Tuscaloosa police Sgt. Brent Blankley, during an argument about gas payment, Williams threatened to blow up the gas station, telling the clerk to call the police early on Sunday morning.

Williams had a weapon in his pants pocket when the police pulled him over, according to the release. He was freed on a $500 bond in that instance.

Despite playing primarily on special teams, Calloway managed to gain 63 yards on 10 carries. Since Alabama inked Auburn’s one-time commitment, he has played a variety of positions on the field, including linebacker, tight end, and H-back. In October 2011, during a redshirt season, Calloway was taken into custody on a marijuana possession charge.
