For Schiano and his family, “Rutgers University and this football program have meant the world.” When I came here in 2000, my intention was to create a program that would make the state of New Jersey proud and produce outstanding young men. I’m eager to take on that challenge once more. We have a fantastic chance as a university community to come together and restore Rutgers to our rightful place. To complete this, everyone on campus and in the state of Rutgers must work together.
“We are starting the next exciting chapter for Rutgers football today,” stated Pat Hobbs, director of athletics. “Without a doubt, Coach Schiano is the ideal candidate to head our program. He provides a level of ethics and leadership that will make us all proud in the years to come. I’m ecstatic for both our supporters and our student-athletes. We have a lot of work ahead of us, but Coach and I will keep chopping together to win in the Big Ten. We are all aware of the objective, and each of us has a responsibility. Greg and Christy Schiano, the founding family of Rutgers football, have my sincere gratitude. Thank you for coming back!
Greg Schiano is the ideal football coach for this significant position, according to Rutgers President Robert Barchi. “From the beginning, we said we would hire the best football coach for our university community, our fans, and our student-athletes,” Barchi stated. “I applaud Coach Schiano and Rutgers Athletics Director Pat Hobbs for coming to an agreement after incredibly difficult negotiations to start this new, exciting chapter for Rutgers Athletics,” Barchi continued. “We are all ecstatic to have Coach Schiano here. In order to make our Big Ten football program a lasting source of pride for Rutgers, he is the right coach at the right moment.
On Wednesday at 10:30 a.m., Schiano will make his official debut at a press conference that will be shown live on BTN. We will cover the event in its entirety.
