VERY BAD NEWS: The Northampton Town FC head coach has been suspended due to a misunderstanding, which is unbelievable news for the brave fans.

The courageous supporters are shocked to learn that the head coach of Northampton Town FC has been suspended because of a misunderstanding.

Wilson, who played for 11 different clubs over the course of seven years, is said to have entered a guilty plea to charges of placing 743 football wagers.

The 30-year-old midfielder, who represented Newport Pagnell at Wembley in the FA Vase final in May following his charges, has been officially suspended for three months by the FA.

Wilson and former England under-19 goalkeeper Dean Snedker, who started their careers at Northampton under Toney, were charged by the FA on Thursday by Mail Sport for putting a total of 1248 bets on football.

The Sport Association (FA) made it clear in their case against Wilson that their investigations were a follow-up to their earlier probe into Toney, who was banned from sport for eight months in May after being found guilty of breaking the rules by making 232 bets. Snedker is still a target in the ongoing case.

It’s believed that the FA’s inquiry began when two WhatsApp groups, including Wilson, were found, one of which had the name Ibiza. This 17-person group was supposedly put up to plan an Ibiza vacation for Toney and a number of non-league football players, several of whom had previously played for Northampton.

After the trip, though, the group continued to meet and was used as a venue for exchanging betting advice. This led to a discussion in which group members were asked to suggest a match for a multi-game accumulator.

Wilson was suspected of engaging in questionable activities when FA attorneys claimed during a disciplinary hearing last month that he was a member of an organized gambling gang. However, the independent commission determined that Wilson was a recreational gambler and did not find any evidence to back their claims.

Snedker might, however, be subject to more severe consequences because, according to what is known, he requested “inside information” in one of the WhatsApp chats. There was none offered.

Wilson wagered £3,673.31 on football games with two UK-based bookmakers, Bet365 and SkyBet, over the period of seven years, losing £459.17. Wilson acknowledged putting the wagers, none of which were on his own team or a game in which he was involved, during interviews with the FA. However, 49 of the 743 illegal bets involved games in competitions that his club participated in.

Lewis’ attorneys are known to have argued, in mitigation, that the player’s exposure to gambling in football was restricted to his time at Northampton more than a century ago. The independent commission came to the conclusion that the sheer volume of bets made warranted a suspension, even though it acknowledged that he was a casual gambler making small sums bets and posing no integrity danger.

Snedker is still being prosecuted by the FA, and the matter could get more complicated. This summer, the 28-year-old goalkeeper joined Coalville, a non-league team in Leicestershire that competes in the Southern Premier League, after leaving Rushden & Diamonds.

Nathan Hicks, Toney’s cousin, has also been investigated by the FA for placing 2,753 bets between 2017 and 2022. The Northampton-born midfielder, 31, who left Rushden this summer without a club, was previously fined £500 after admitting to 162 betting violations during his time with Kettering Town from 2014 to 2017.
