Due to his wife The Brewers player who retired years ago,has announced his return to the team
On Tuesday, Ryan Braun, who spent his whole 14-year career with the Milwaukee Brewers and rose to become one of the team’s all-time greatest offensive players, announced his retirement from baseball.
With his contract set to expire after the season, Braun, 37, was a member of the Brewers during the 60-game schedule that was shortened due to the pandemic in 2020. Braun chose to hold off on announcing his retirement at first in order to keep his options open, but there were no meaningful discussions between him and the Brewers about a 2021 return.
Now, with less than three weeks remaining in the season and the Brewers running away with the National League Central Division, Braun decided it was time to make official his retirement and thanked Milwaukee fans in a video posted on Twitter.
In his 80-second video, Braun stated, “While we’re taking it all in, I wanted to take a minute to share some news with you.”
“I played my first game in a major-league uniform on May 25, 2007.” I have made the decision to formally retire from competitive play as of today, more than 14 years later.
“Even though it’s hard to put my feelings into words right now, thankfulness is what I’m most feeling. And I simply wanted to say thank you for your time. I’ve had the tremendous good fortune to embark on this amazing journey with innumerable incredible colleagues, coaches, support staff, friends, and family.
“To the fans: thank you for always making my family and I feel like we were a part of this community and for your unwavering affection. I am grateful that you have filled the ballpark for 14 years, including nights and weekends. You made it enjoyable to visit the stadium each day, and being a lifelong Brewer is the best playing experience I can think of.
“I appreciate all of your inspiration, help, and encouragement. I’m grateful for the experiences, the runs in the postseason, and the moments I will never forget. I hope you’ll be there to celebrate with me when I return to town on Sunday, September 26, for the final home game of the regular season. For now, go Brewers.
