This morning, the CFL team announced him as the 27th head coach in the history of the team.
Scott Milanovich, the 27th head coach in team history, has been appointed by the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
Milanovich will be named head coach by the squad at a news conference this afternoon.
Milanovich expressed gratitude to Ed Hervey, Bob Young, Scott Mitchell, Orlondo Steinauer, and Hamilton Sports Group for the opportunity. “A fantastic foundation has been set, and I can’t wait to get to work and help Hamilton win a championship.”
After Tommy Condell left the team in August of 2023, Milanovich became the offensive play-caller for the Ticats. Milanovich had joined the team as a senior assistant coach in 2023. He takes over for Orlondo Steinauer, who left the position on Tuesday in order to concentrate on his work as the team’s president of football operations. The Butler, Pennsylvania native had a long coaching career. During his five seasons as head coach of the Toronto Argonauts (2012–2016), he was voted the CFL Coach of the Year and won a Grey Cup in 2012. Milanovich spent five seasons (2007–11) in a variety of positions with the Montreal Alouettes, where he was the team’s offensive coordinator and assistant head coach. During that time, he won two Grey Cups (2009, 2010). Milanovich then joined the Argos.
Ed Hervey remarked, “Scott is a proven winner who brings a tremendous pedigree to our organization.” “We are happy that he and his family have decided to stay in Hamilton, and he will continue to be a huge asset to our football staff.”
The 50-year-old has also coached quarterbacks for the Indianapolis Colts (2021–2022) and Jacksonville Jaguars (2017–2019). He also played for the Rhein Fire (2003-2005) and Cologne Centurions (2006) in NFL Europe.
