The blows keep coming for Lakers centers in recent weeks,as Colin Castleton is the latest to suffer an injury. The two-way big man was diagnosed with a fractured wrist, the team announced on Sunday, and will be re-evaluated in two weeks.
A two-week schedule will get increasingly closer to the season’s conclusion. At that point, the NBA season will probably be in its last few weeks, and the G League season will probably be over.
This season, Castleton hasn’t played any meaningful minutes with the Lakers. This season, all seven of his games have been garbage time minutes.
In 12 G League games, Castleton has averaged 14.1 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 53.8% shooting from the field. In addition to playing 28.7 minutes a night on average, he has been a solid defensive player, averaging 1.6 blocks and a steal
Bill Russell and Wilt Chamberlain were in direct rivalry with one another for the majority of their remarkable and storied careers. In ten years, they faced off eight times in the playoffs.

Despite the fact that he hadn’t played in the NBA, the chance existed because Christian Wood had also missed several weeks due to a knee ailment. It seemed improbable that the Lakers would use him in the final stretch of the season for any meaningful minutes.
It does, however, eliminate a choice. With just Jaxson Hayes and Anthony Davis at center, it makes the Lakers’ center position shockingly thin. Additionally, the team no longer has a slot available on the roster to sign one after adding Spencer Dinwiddie.
The Lakers are in a tight roster situation. While this move doesn’t necessarily affect the team in the NBA, it does reduce their alternatives in the worst-case scenario.
