SAD report, The San Diego Padres top player has officially announced to step down, Due to his marriage…
For the San Diego Padres, the 2023 season has been disastrous thus far.
After decades of futility, the Padres were now considered a relevant team and were expected to be among the league’s best.
Following their three-game loss to the Pirates on Wednesday, the Padres are now seven games below.500 and are unlikely to make the playoffs.
At this juncture in the season, with the club still coming up with fresh ways to lose games, playing deep into the season seems unthinkable.
The team is lacking heart, and they are just unable of rallying from behind, in contrast to previous teams.
It is a sad time for the fanbase, as there were high hopes for the Padres in 2023.
Though they are not technically eliminated, the Padres need a small miracle to get back into the race. If the trend continues and the team fails to make the playoffs this season- who is to blame? Where will the fault lie for the San Diego Padres’ incompetence?
Let’s take a look at the three most common “reasons” why the Padres are losing.
When a talented team struggles, most fans and pundits immediately point the finger at the management of the team. Bob Melvin had a successful track record before to joining the Padres.
He is considered by many to be among the best major league baseball managers. The seasoned captain is known for getting the most performance out of a cheap team.
Melvin has not had to go through that in San Diego, where the Padres have the third-highest payroll in the league with a $232 million squad.
Is this star-studded locker room failing to treat him with respect? Has he lost the team’s respect? These ideas appear incredibly improbable. A manager’s choices are ten times more significant in close losses.
This season, Melvin’s lineup decisions and use of the bullpen have come under scrutiny, although nothing particularly troubling.
Bob Melvin might be fired and made into a scapegoat for the Padres’ woes, but it seems like he isn’t the problem with this team. It transcends beyond him.
