The all-time player in Michigan has been suspended due to a misunderstanding with the owner and head coach because of…
Ahmir Mitchell, a receiver under suspension, looks to be leaving the Michigan football team.
Mitchell, a rookie from Egg Harbor City, New Jersey, was one of two players Jim Harbaugh suspended before the start of fall camp. He posted a statement on Twitter today announcing his departure.
“I will like to announce that I am hearby reopening my recruitment to all Universities and football programs,” wrote Mitchell.
Mitchell’s stay in Ann Arbor was brief. He was introduced at the Signing of the Stars event and enrolled for the winter semester in January, but he was absent from the team photo taken on August 7. When asked about it nearly two weeks later, Harbaugh said two of the three missing players were suspended — later determined to be Mitchell and redshirt freshman defensive end Shelton Johnson.

Mitchell has been active on Snapchat since the suspension, posting videos of himself scrubbing floors at night at a building he claimed to be in Livonia. Whether that had anything to do with his suspension in Michigan is unclear.
Mitchell can enroll at a different school in time for this season by making the decision now. This could qualify as a redshirt season even though he was not allowed to play at an FBS school due to transfer regulations. He could be ready to start right away at a lower division or FCS school.
In the 2016 recruiting class, Mitchell was a four-star prospect who was rated as the 167th best player overall.
