Sad news: The head coach of Pittsburgh Pirates shed tears as two of his best player’s has made a final decision to terminate their contract

The team declared that Rodríguez underwent surgery on Tuesday, following an injury he sustained while playing in the Dominican Republic. A 10- to 12-month healing period is projected.

After making his major league debut in July, 23-year-old Rodríguez is viewed as a key component of the Pirates’ future. In 57 games, he had a.220 average, three home runs, and thirteen RBIs.

Although Rodríguez is still developing as a receiver, he did intercept nine out of thirty possible base stealers.

In 2024, the Pirates had anticipated that Rodríguez will shoulder the majority of the catching duties. They’ll now probably turn to Jason Delay, Ali Sanchez, who was just signed, and Henry Davis, who was formerly the first overall selection pick.

Davis played right field for the most of his rookie campaign in 2023. On December 1, Sanchez inked a one-year contract with Pittsburgh.

Signed by Pirates 1B Tellez

Pittsburgh (AP) — The Pittsburgh Pirates and Rowdy Tellez have reached an agreement on a one-year, $3.2 million deal.

Subject to a successful physical, the deal includes $800,000 in performance bonuses for the designated hitter and first baseman.

For Milwaukee in 2023, Tellez, 28, batted.215 with 13 home runs and 47 RBIs. The left-handed hitter has spent six seasons with Toronto and Milwaukee, where he is a career.233 hitter.

The Pirates needed first base support coming into the offseason. Carlos Santana held the role from the start of 2022 until being sent to Milwaukee during the trade deadline. During the last two months of the season, among others, Connor Joe and Jared Triolo received play at first.
