Sad report: Due to his wife, the head coach of Tampa Buccaneers has officially announced his retirement.

Complete statement from Bruce Arians declaring his retirement as the Bucs coach
Tom Brady, the quarterback, and new head coach Todd Bowles discussed the team’s succession plan.

On Wednesday night, Bruce Arians announced to his teammates and staff that he would be leaving his position as head coach of the Bucs, effective immediately, and taking on a new position as senior football consultant. Todd Bowles, a seasoned defensive coordinator, was given a new five-year deal and promoted to head coach.

Arians’ complete statement is as follows:

In one way or another, I have been a football coach on the sidelines for the most of the last 50 years of my life. I have decided to help Jason Licht and his colleagues in the Buccaneers front office by taking on a new position, moving from the sidelines.

I’m a huge football fan. I adore everything about it, including the rivalry, strategy, and relationships. Although it has been an incredible journey, I am confident that now is the ideal moment for me to make this change.

The short answer is that this amazing coaching adventure has allowed me to achieve more than I ever imagined. Really, the last thing on my career bucket list was to win Super Bowl LV at our home stadium in front of my mother and family. This is much more than just striving to improve my coaching record, in my opinion.

“Thanks to Jason’s outstanding work and the Glazer family’s dedication to success, this team is in a lot better shape than it was three years ago. Don’t assume that this is about my health just yet. I’ve never felt better, and I can’t wait to use my newfound ability to assist our team keep winning.
