Unbelivable: The former head coach of Hamilton tigers, Scott Milanovich, has announced his return to the team
The Hamilton Tiger-Cats’ announcement on Tuesday that they were altering their football operations caught some people off guard. Orlondo Steinauer, the head coach, was promoted to president of football operations, and Ed Hervey took over as general manager.
The coaching position is now available as a result. The Tiger-Cats have already declared that this week will see the announcement of their new head coach.
Current offensive assistant Scott Milanovich is anticipated to be named head coach and offensive coordinator, according to a post made on X by TSN’s Dave Naylor. Milanovich was supposed to be the offensive coordinator in 2024, according to Naylor, but it looks like he may also be adding head coach to his title at this point.
Milanovich has a lengthy coaching career in the CFL, having joined the Calgary Stampeders in 2003 as their quarterbacks coach. He previously served as the Montreal Alouettes’ offensive coordinator in the CFL from 2008 to 2011. Milanovich assisted Montreal in winning two Grey Cups in 2009 and 2010.
Milanovich has two CFL head coaching stints under his belt. Initially, from 2012 to 2016, I played for the Toronto Argonauts, where I went 43–47 and won the Grey Cup in 2012.
In 2020, he was also appointed head coach of Edmonton; however, the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of the season. Without ever coaching a game, Milanovich would leave in 2021 to pursue opportunities in the NFL.
Milanovich became a senior assistant coach for the Tiger-Cats in May. After the organization and offensive coordinator, Tommy Condell, parted ways in August, Milanovich assumed play-calling responsibilities. It was rumored that he would become offensive coordinator beginning in 2024.
Following an 8-10 regular season, Hamilton lost the East Semifinal 27-12 to the Grey Cup champion Montreal Alouettes.
