Boone was dismissed from the Orioles game on Thursday. It was his third expulsion in the previous ten games for the Yankees and his fourth of the season.

After contesting Edwin Moscoso’s strike zone, the manager was fired. The captain maintained that Moscoso’s back to the manager shouldn’t have resulted in Boone’s ejection, but when Moscoso did, Boone lost it.

Boone’s mouth spittle sprayed in Moscoso’s direction, forcing crew chief Chris Guccione to step in between them.

Boone claimed that on the Friday afternoon and the evening of the ejection, he spoke with Michael Hill, senior vice president for on-field operations for Major League Baseball, several times. Based on his first conversation with Hill, Boone was “surprised” and “caught off guard” when he learned of his suspension on Friday during batting practice.
