Sad report: The head coach of Ajax shed tears as two of his top player’s has made a final decision to terminate their contract
Ajax fires Alfred Schreuder following a 1-1 draw against struggling Volendam at home. The Dutch champions are currently fifth in the Eredivisie standings following the Erik ten Hag scandal.
After Ajax’s dismal run of play continued with a 1-1 draw against Volendam, Alfred Schreuder was fired as manager of the team.
Since November 1, the Dutch powerhouses have only won two games, and Mohammed Kudus, a Ghanaian talent, scored a late equalizer to save the team from even greater humiliation.
The Dutch champions’ home draw against a struggling Volendam team proved to be the last straw for Schreuder, who has had difficulty leading the team since replacing Erik ten Hag this season and has reportedly faced a player mutiny in the dressing room.
The manager of Ajax has taken a jab at Manchester United for not playing in the Champions League despite their admiration for their standout winger, Antony.
Despite United making a “absurd” bid, Alfred Schreuder also stated he doesn’t want to trade any more players this summer.
The new manager of United, Erik ten Hag, has had his eye on Brazilian winger Antony for a while. He has had two bids for his former player in Amsterdam rejected.
There have been claims in the Netherlands that Ajax is awaiting a third proposal of €100m [£85m] for the 22-year-old, with United supposedly making offers of €60m [£51m] and €80m [£67m].
