Following their most recent defeat, Angel City signed four monster players for astronomical sums of money.

Today, Angel City declared that it had acquired Messiah Bright, a forward, from Orlando Pride. The intra-league transfer funds of $130,000 will be given to the Orlando Pride in return.

Bright expressed his gratitude for the chance to join the ACFC and make Los Angeles his permanent home. “I am eager to join this group, as it appears to be very special.” My goal is to be the best version of myself and to constantly strive for improvement. I can’t wait to meet the team and technical staff and get my hands dirty on the pitch. I’m excited to share my enthusiasm with the incredible supporters at BMO Stadium. Let the good times start!

“Last season, as a rookie professional, Messiah showed that she belonged in this league,” stated ACFC General Manager Angela Hucles Mangano. Her talent to locate the back of the net is remarkable, and we anticipate witnessing her perform that feat while wearing an Angel City uniform.

Bright led all NWSL rookies with seven goals, 6.2 expected goals, and 29 successful takeaways across all competitions. She was nominated as a finalist for the 2023 NWSL Rookie of the Year award. After scoring three goals in four games, including her first career brace against North Carolina Courage, she became the first player in NWSL history to win both NWSL Player and Rookie of the Month awards in the same month in August 2023.

After a stellar four years at TCU, Bright, who is originally from Dallas, Texas, was selected by Orlando with the 21st overall pick in the 2023 NWSL Draft. With 102 game appearances, 50 goals, and 17 assists, she concluded her Horned Frog career. She set the program record for goals scored in a single season in 2021 with 17 goals. Throughout her five years with the Horned Frogs, she was named an All-BIG 12 player and was twice named a United Soccer Coaches All-American.

After being added to the roster for the 2022 Thorns Invitational and making a comeback for the Sweden U-23 Three Nations Tournament, Bright has received calls up to the 2022 U-23 U.S. Women’s National Team (USWNT). She was selected for the Florida and Switzerland U-18 USYNT training camps in 2018.
