Bad news: The head coach of Juventus shed tears as four of his star players made a final decision to terminate their huge contracts.
The bad news is that four of Juventus‘ top players have decided to end their enormous contracts, causing the head coach to cry.
Paul Pogba’s £130,000-per-week contract with Juventus may be terminated if he is suspended for failing a drug test, according to reports.
After testing positive for testosterone, the 30-year-old France midfielder faces a four-year ban with a provisional suspension.
According to reports, the positive test happened following Juve’s Serie A match on August 20 versus Udinese, a game he did not participate in.
Pogba, who was first suspended as a precaution by the Italian national anti-doping tribunal, had three days starting on Monday to request a B sample.
In certain situations, the maximum penalty is four years, with a two-year initial restriction that can be doubled if it can be demonstrated that the drug was taken on purpose.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, if Pogba is suspended, Juventus may terminate his contract, therefore ending his second stint with the team.
Pogba might not even reach the halfway point of his current Juventus deal if the matter is resolved quickly.
According to sources, Pogba was made to take a sizable wage reduction when he returned to Turin from his £290,000 weekly salary at United.
Rafaela Pimenta, Pogba’s agent, immediately jumped to his defense in a statement on Tuesday.
Pimenta stated: “We are waiting for the counteranalysis, and until then we can’t say anything,” according to reporter Simon Stone.
“Paul Pogba never wanted to break the rules.” That much is evident.
Despite having received a positive test three games prior, Pogba has participated in Juventus’ matches against Bologna and Empoli since the Udinese match while the outcomes were being examined.
Pogba’s temporary suspension was officially announced by Juventus on Monday night in a club statement.
According to the announcement, Paul Labile Pogba of Juventus Football Club was given a precautionary suspension order by the National Anti-Doping Tribunal today, September 11, 2023, based on the findings of tests that were conducted on August 20, 2023.
“The club retains the right to think about the next steps in the procedure.”
After spending six years back in the Premier League, Pogba returned to Juventus on a free transfer from Manchester United in the summer of 2022.
After leaving United for free the second time as a youngster in 2012, he had a mixed career with the team.
However, things haven’t gone as planned at Juventus either, as the midfield player only started one game last year because of an injury.
Despite getting more playing time this season, he will now likely be sidelined for the near future due to his punishment.
Pogba has previously acknowledged that the supposed extortion plot against him and his family in 2022 made him think about giving up football.
A group of armed, masked men accosted the French midfield player in a residence in Paris and wanted millions of dollars for “protection services.”
