WE NEED HIM BACK: The Owner of Ajax Amsterdam Edwin van der Sar announced to sell the team

Amsterdamsche Football Club Ajax, also referred to as AFC Ajax, Ajax Amsterdam, or simply just Ajax, is an Amsterdam-based Dutch football team that competes in the Eredivisie, the top division in Dutch football.

Ajax has been the most successful club in the Netherlands’ history, having won 19 KNVB Cups and 34 Eredivisie titles. It is one of the “enormous three” teams in the nation who have dominated the Eredivisie, together with Feyenoord and PSV Eindhoven, having competed in the league continuously since its founding in 1956.

The Amsterdam-based Ajax was founded on March 18, 1900.

The team made it to the pinnacle of Dutch football in 1911 and won the KNVB Beker, the country’s national cup, in 1917, marking its first significant triumph.

Ajax won the national championship for the first time the next season. The team defended its championship in 1918–19, becoming the only team in the Netherlands Football League Championship to complete a season without a loss.

Ajax was a strong regional force in the 1920s, winning the Eerste Klasse West division in 1921, 1927, and 1928, but it did not appear to be able to sustain its success on a national scale. The club won five national championships (1931, 1932, 1934, 1937, 1939), changing this during the 1930s.
