Just now, the Oklahoma Sooners have signed this outstanding pro bowl running back, who is widely regarded as a top pick by all NFL teams.

It’s the last Signing Day of the cycle 2024. The end of the senior class draws near.

In December, all 27 of Oklahoma’s 2024 recruits signed National Letters of Intent. This indicates that the Sooners will have a low-key signing period in February.

We’re posting some Signing Day Superlatives here on Sooners Illustrated to summarize the lesson. The ‘Biggest Get’ for OU in 2024 will be the following:

There is a compelling case to be made for Jayden Jackson, David Stone’s teammate at IMG Academy, to be the “Biggest Get” in a world where Stone has been awarded the “Class MVP.” Oklahoma benefited greatly from the addition of both for a few overlapping reasons.

Positional need and talent are important factors, but there also needs to be a certain element of surprise for a player to rank among the “Biggest Gets,” right? That’s precisely the situation with Oklahoma and Jackson.

To be really honest, Jackson nearly chose not to go. “They were the only school on my top five list that I had not visited on an official basis before going on all of my official trips.”

“I was ready to commit within the first ten minutes of the visit,” Jackson continued. “After speaking with coaches Todd Bates and Brent Venables, I was genuinely astounded… I said to my mom and my uncle, who were with me, “I think this is the place for me,” with a glance. I actually didn’t believe I would like it there before the visit, and I ended up appreciating that trip more than any other place, which makes me look back and find it crazy.

Jackson appeared to be unattainable for the Sooners at one point. Then one of the best inside front-liners commits and signs all of a sudden.

This 2024 class was one that had to address the defensive line of scrimmage as Oklahoma prepares to enter the SEC. That goal of turning around a recruitment like Jackson’s was achieved by placing an outstanding prospect at a premium position.

At No. 189 overall, Jackson is listed as the 2024 class’s penultimate player in the Top247 rankings. From his previous ranking of No. 206, he has jumped up 17 spots.

According to 247Sports, Jackson ranks as one of the top 25 players in Florida and among the top 30 defensive linemen in the country. Jackson’s talents are highly regarded by the 247Sports Network, as evidenced by all of these rankings, which are significantly higher than the industry-generated aggregate.

The scouting report on Jackson from 247Sports is as follows. With permission from network scouting director Andrew Ivins:

“A nose that devours space and has a lot of shed power, capable of clogging running lanes. entered the senior season weighing about 300 pounds and at 6 feet 2 inches tall. Large paws are a blessing, and he will use those powerful hands to charge into the backfield. moves more laterally than most people his size and will continue to pump his legs in an attempt to stop. Utilizing his explosive bottom half, he works low to the ground and continuously generates plenty of forward momentum. has received high marks from IMG Academy’s coaching staff, a nationally renowned powerhouse, and is regarded as a vocal leader in the locker room. Should be seen as a potential impact player in the middle who can anchor on early downs in both odd and even fronts, but must avoid setbacks and continue to develop as a pass rusher. Most likely to eventually lift at least 325 pounds.”
