On the first day of Nebraska football training camp, Husker coach Matt Rhule announced that two-year starter Myles Farmer was suspended over the summer and is not on the 120-man roster.
“It’s just kind of day-by-day,” Rhule said of Farmer’s eventual comeback. “I adore Myles. He is a competitive youngster. I understand how difficult it is to have a new coach who has different standards than you are used to. We’ve been patient with many guys. We’ll see what happens to Myles.
“The ball is in his court. We’d love for him to be here, but whatever he decides, I appreciate him as a guy.”
The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Farmer, a member of the 2019 recruiting class, has 112 career tackles and four career interceptions in 26 games, starting part-time in 2021 and full-time in 2022, finishing with 73 tackles and an interception.
He’s been competing with Lincoln Southeast graduate Isaac Gifford for the new rover position on NU’s D.

Brodie Tagaloa, a defensive lineman, will miss the season after being involved in a car accident some weeks ago. Rhule spoke with Tagaloa over the weekend over FaceTime.
“He had a cut to his face and had to have surgery on his knee,” said Rhule. “We expect him to miss the entire year, sadly. Brodie was coming along nicely. “But he has a bright future.”
Seth Malcom, a 2021 linebacker recruit, and Chase Androff, a 2022 tight end recruit, are no longer on the roster or with the team. Neither played a single snap for Nebraska.
Malcom, a former eight-man star at Fremont-Mills (Iowa) High School, became stuck at linebacker after NU signed many transfers and placed safeties John Bullock and Kaine Williams there.
