Due to his wife, A very loyal New York Giants player has announced his sudden retirement, sending a powerful statement and bidding the team and supporters

The Giants decided to go on without Odell Beckham Jr. and make a long-term investment in Sterling Shepard.

According to a source, the Giants are negotiating a four-year contract extension with Shepard that would pay him $41 million, making him the team’s highest-paid receiver and securing his future. There are $21.3 million in guaranteed funds in the contract. The extension was initially reported by NFL Network.

This trade, which comes just after the Giants sent superstar Beckham to the Browns for two first- and third-round draft selections this month in addition to safety Jabrill Peppers, should make it clear how highly the Giants regard their players.

Coach Pat Shurmur came to value Shepard’s contributions both on and off the field quite rapidly. The Giants obviously prefer Shepard’s levelheaded demeanor and workmanlike approach to the roller coaster trip Beckham put the team through for five seasons, even though he is not the same fearsome weapon as Beckham.

Shepard, a second-round selection out of Oklahoma in 2016, was about to begin the last year of his four-year, $5.94 million rookie contract. Shepard is contracted through the 2023 season as a result of this new agreement in addition to the remaining year on the previous one.
